The Benefits of Using CAT as a Narrative Therapy
Fri 15 May
|Webinar
CAT is an integrative, versatile, psychoanalytic and cognitive therapy. Seeing it as a narrative therapy revitalises the use of mapping, therapy diagrams and writing. It underlines the movement between co-authoring and self-authoring and shifts in narrative freedom through a life time of stories.

About the Event
The half day workshop will offer a hands on experience of working with the tools and methods of CAT as if it is a narrative therapy. It should enrich the dialogic and relational ways of working for those taking part.
In the early reformulation sessions of CAT, we conversationally map out moments of interaction in one or more stories using the conceptual tools of reciprocal roles and procedures. We are building an alliance and a shape to the therapy. We go away with the offer to bring back a therapy diagram (SDR) with the possibility of teasing out life long narratives (TPP's) that we might want to re-author and revise. Writing out in session paragraphs to parts of these life stories and narratives helps build the alliance and prepares for the reformulation letter as a transitional object and surrogate agent for the holding and ongoing shaping of the therapy.
